This dress is from the Marc Jacobs Fall 2011/11 collection in all my rendering's smudgy glory. I plan to vectorize several of these doodles but I like the uneveness and contour lines of the drawings too.

TRANSFORM - Group Exhibition

cybele is in the group show, Transform

I have a piece in the current exhibition at SHO gallery. Go see the show and go hungry! The tacos from The Loading Dock are awesome! The exhibition is only up until 20 November.

Sho Gallery, 170 Tillary Street #105, Brooklyn, NY

30 artists brought together through the experience of working in Takashi Murakami's** NY studio present a group exhibition centered around the theme of TRANSFORM. Each artist presents their individual perspective on transformation, whether through visual interpretation or studio practice, to reflect upon the constant changes of life.
**This exhibit is NOT presented by or in any way affiliated with Takashi Murakami or Kaikai Kiki ...NY, LLC**

The entire show is an amazing collection of work from the talented people that do or did work at Kaikai Kiki New York.
My contribution is a personal piece, which is very, very, very different from my commercial work. I hope you get the chance to see the show!

books without illustrations are sad

There is an article today in
The New York Times, "Picture Books No Longer a Staple for Children" talking about the decline of the children's picture book. This is such a shame as the decrease in sales of picture books is apparently being driven by parents who want their kids to be literate faster. I'm glad this article points out the other benefits of having illustration joined with words for cognition. Personally, I remember being angry with my mother the first time she handed me a book without pictures in it. I have always wanted my words to be illustrated.
Please have a read and see what you think.

p.s. it would have been nice and ironic is they had illustrated the article instead of using photography. get clever NYT!
